About

Basketball Hawaii Youth Academy (BHYA) is a volunteer-run organization focused on mentoring West Oahu youth through basketball. Built on the belief that sports should be accessible to everyone, the academy keeps its programs free or highly affordable. Operating out of the AMVETS West Oahu Veterans Center and Geiger Park, BHYA's coaches and parent volunteers look beyond the court to emphasize character building, teamwork, and community service, including local charity drives. BHYA welcomes players of all skill levels. The academy focuses on fun and personal growth rather than high-pressure competition, operating as a true ohana where supporting local keiki always comes first. **Program Highlights** * **Age Groups:** Comprehensive, ability-based programs accommodating children from **ages 3 to 18**. * **Unmatched Affordability:** Features completely **free** youth clinics and highly affordable seasonal league play so no family is priced out. * **Girls Program:** Hosts a dedicated All-Girls basketball league to empower female athletes and build confidence. * **Year-Round Access:** Offers extended Fall/Winter leagues, Spring/Summer camps, and consistent weekly Sunday clinics. * **Community Service:** Actively involves players in local charity events (including major community clinics with NBA guests), teaching athletes the value of giving back.
