Operating in the Ala Moana area of Honolulu, Gracie Allegiance Honolulu offers structured instruction in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, self-defense, and No-Gi grappling. Led by Head Instructor Mike Chu, the academy prioritizes safety and foundational skill-building for new practitioners. To ensure a secure learning environment, the program intentionally delays live sparring (rolling) for beginners until they have mastered essential escapes and defensive techniques. The curriculum also integrates elements of Judo and wrestling to create a well-rounded grappling base. While the school maintains a specialized competition training system for athletes looking to enter local tournaments, participation is entirely optional, keeping the core focus on cooperative learning, proper technique, and practical self-defense.
