About

Operating out of the Waipahu District Park, Waipahu Boxing Club is a historic non-profit athletic organization founded by the late Hawaii Sports Hall of Fame inductee Al “Quick” Silva. The club is dedicated to improving the physical health and wellness of local youth through structured training in the sport and art of amateur boxing. Under the guidance of coaches trained directly by Silva, the gym provides a safe, disciplined space centered on technical development, ring strategy, and proper conditioning. The program uses boxing as a core framework to help young individuals build self-confidence, work ethic, and mutual respect, maintaining a proud community tradition of developing both casual fitness practitioners and regional amateur competitors. ### Program Highlights * **Age Groups:** Open to all youth age brackets, adolescents, and adults of varying skill levels. * **Schedule & Format:** Conducts regular group training sessions Monday through Friday from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM. * **Key Features:** Focuses heavily on classic boxing fundamentals, structured conditioning, and individual mitt work with coaches in a traditional public park dojo setting.
